When pH is too low (under 7.2), the chlorine residual becomes unstable and is rapidly depleted, reducing its ability to kill bacteria. Too low a pH (acid water), will corrode pool surfaces, corrode piping, corrode equipment, speed loss of chlorine, reduce ability of chlorine to kill bacteria, make water cloudy and turbid, cause chlorine odors, cause eye burning, eye irritation, skin irritation and irritation of nasal membranes. Too low a pH will also cause alum (used as a coagulant in some filtration systems) to go through the filter and form a cloudy floc in the pool. This product requires an additional shipping charge.
